We hope everyone made it out of last week healthy and alive. It was a gigantic storm and the massive amounts of flooding Washington has gone through is unbelievable! Many farms and producers you and I support have been severely affected.
We have set up a small crowdfunding page to try to help our people that produce the great food we’re able to bring to you every week in their times of need. Anyone wishing to contribute any amount can please do so HERE.
Another example of extreme weather brought on by climate change and one more reason to support your local food producers! Local Yokels is not only good for you and your family, it’s good for your neighbors, your broader community, and the earth. Farms are our future, not conveyer belts!
With entire farms underwater we saw crops being canceled and could potentially have supply strains in the next 6 weeks. Please bear with us and keep in mind if there’s a substitution in your produce bag an item on our newsletter menu was unavailable.
WTF Was That?!
Totsoi
Well, I’m grown all over the world but you only have to look as far as Foothills Farm in Puyallup to find my birthplace. What am I??! We’ll I’m a proud member of the Brassica rapa family, I also go by tat choy, and my cousin is the more popular Bok Choy. Just like my cuzzo I’m chock full o’ vitamin C, folic acid, calcium, and potassium. I’m really delicious in a stir fry or a salad but please try me in pestos or lightly steamed or sautéed as well. You can also pickle me! What’s not love? Aren’t you happy you met me??
