Tunawerth Creamery, Tenino WA
Tunawerth Creamery is a family owned operation run by Dutch immigrants bringing us a little taste of the Creamery styles and flavors of their roots to the PNW. They strive to make exceptional cheeses from the Netherlands (Gouda, Komijne, Kruidnagel Etc.) and milk products (low pasteurized milk, Yogurt, and soft cheeses)
They are not Certified Organic but they use organic and sustainable practices.
We found them from very early on when my sister who worked for the WSDA and asked the Dairy Farm inspector for the State of Washington what the cleanest dairy in the state was? Tunawerth was the answer and we've been hooked ever since!
Their unique name was explained to me by their son once, it's more like TUNaWERTH. The "a"is a connector and TUN and WERTH mean "mound" and "water"
