Zylberschtein's Deli

Josh Grunig

I am a San Francisco native and graduate of the San Francisco Baking Institute with extended studies in Paris at the Ecoles Gregoire Ferandi. I moved to Seattle in June of 2012 to work as a Night Manager at Grand Central Bakery. In 2014, I branched out on my own and began Pocket Bakery, a pop-up bakery, in the Central District area of Seattle. After six months of growing success, I formed Standard Bakery as a way to offer sourdough loaves and classic American treats wholesale to local Seattle coffee shops and grocery stores. In October 2016 Standard Bakery found a permanent home in the Pinehurst neighborhood of Seattle, where we operated a walk-up window for fresh baked goods, coffee and sandwiches.

Zylberschtein's is famous for our pastrami and corned beef sandwiches. We make all menu items from scratch and are committed to high quality fresh made meats, breads, bagels and amazing pastries. Our cakes are sky high, our macaroons, babka and almond horns are legendary. We are one of the few places in all of the Puget sound where you can buy Chopped Liver, my Aunt Marcy's recipe.
